A long and difficult journey awaits us today, it will last about 5 – 7 hours and our destination will be Kibo huts through the walking path that leads to the so-called “saddle” on the road. A barren plateau connecting the main Kibo summit to the Mawenzi Peak. We sleep in Kibo huts and enjoy an early dinner, then we go to bed early in preparation for a very early day the next day.

Day 6: Trek from Kibo Cottages – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Cottages

This is the most exciting day, as the moment of reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is approaching. When the ash and lava are still frozen, we will start walking in the evening, so that it is easy to walk on. We will wake up at eleven at night, and we will embark on a long and difficult journey to the summit, with a slow trip to go through the Hans Mays cave when we reach the edge of the Kilimanjaro crater, where we see the morning spreading its rays. We continue our walk for 1-2 hours in reaching the highest point on the summit of Kilimanjaro, the summit of Uhuru, to enjoy with wide open eyes with the spectacular scenery of the low slopes of the highest mountain in Africa. “Tip: Store these moments well in your memory, they are worthy.” Then we go back down from Kilimanjaro, where a hot meal awaits us from the mountain team. After a one to two hour break, during which time we have regained strength and vigor, we continue our journey into Horombo huts.

Day 7: Trek to Horombo Cottages back to Marangu Gate

A journey from the morning, going through the wetlands and swamps back to the Mandara huts, to have a hot lunch there.
